Hi, I'm Lizzie Assa, MS. Ed. and the founder of The Workspace for Children. I'm a parenting strategist and independent play expert who believes that play is how children make sense of their world.

I help parents, caregivers, and teachers by offering them engaging, simple-to-set-up play ideas and tips for communicating more effectively with children. I believe that independent play is valuable for the entire family. It gives parents a break and helps children develop creativity, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills. For the last 10 years, I’ve been helping grownups across the globe create playful and supportive environments for their children to grow and learn.

I've been featured in The New York Times, Parents, and The Wall Street Journal, and I'm passionate about helping grownups create supportive environments for children and families to play and learn.

I offer a variety of free and paid resources to help parents support their children's play. My free resources include blog posts, articles, and videos on topics such as independent play, open-ended toys, and creative activities. My paid resources include online courses, workshops, and parent and teacher coaching. I'm a graduate of the Bank Street College of Education in NYC, and I live in Marblehead, MA with my husband, three children, and two goofy Goldendoodles.
