5 Simple Strategies for Less Family Stress

It's okay to make mistakes and not have all the answers. In fact, it's through making mistakes and learning from them that we grow and become better parents.

With that in mind, here are 5 tips for creating less stress and more fun:

  1. Repeat activities often: Don't feel like you have to constantly come up with new and exciting activities for your child. Children thrive on repetition and having the same activity available many days in a row gives them the opportunity to master their process.

  2. Stay in your own lane: You are the best person to parent your child. You know them best and your child loves you because you are you. Drop the Pinterest mom act if it doesn't feel authentic to you and focus on what works for your family.

  3. Your kids have fun when you are having fun: It's easy to get caught up in the stress and pressure of parenting, but it's important to remember that your kids will have more fun when you are having fun too. Don't be afraid to let loose and enjoy yourself.

  4. Less is more: Fewer choices lead to easier decision making. When it comes to meals and activities, try offering just a couple of options instead of overwhelming your child with too many choices.

  5. Say no and follow through: It's okay to say no to your child and set limits and boundaries. In fact, children crave limits and boundaries and the more you set them, the easier everything becomes. Don't be afraid to be firm and follow through on your decisions.

Aiming for perfection in parenting is a myth. Struggle means you and your child are growing and learning. Embrace the messy parts and remember that the hard parts are often our teachers.
