Need a Fall DIY Project? Try These Painted Rainbow Pumpkins!

Last month, Ruby and I were perusing the web and we came across this beautiful image of DIY RAINBOW PUMPKINS from @houselarsbuilt. Ruby’s little eyes were like giant saucers and she HAD to try her hand at this. Me? I wasn’t so sure. It felt kind of like a huge project to take on.
Fast forward a few days of Ruby begging and pleading and she was off and running. We bought our pumpkins at Trader Joe’s and ordered the paints and sealer on Amazon.
Ruby loved the color pallet she saw on The House That Lars Built and wanted to recreate it. She spent a lot of time mixing colors and perfecting her pallet before painting the pumpkins.
She had a creative vision, and despite my initial reluctance, Ruby went for it. I am so glad she did! Her painted pumpkins turned out amazing!

UPDATE!! We did this project again this year, and instead of using real pumpkins, we used these foam ones that we ordered from Amazon. The pumpkins come out so beautifully, we couldn’t bear to see them rot again. This year we are keeping them!!
